Three Peaks
Challenge and Pigeon Racing Night in memory of Harvey Hague-Armitage - May 2009
Two very different fundraising events were held in May 2009 to raise funds for
the Harvey-Hague Armitage Memorial Fund within CRY. Firstly, a team of
climbers successfully completed the Three Peaks Challenge; and secondly, a
Pigeon Racing Night was held. |

800km walk from St Jean Pied de Port in France to

CRY Heart of London
Bridges Walk - 20th July 2008
Following the success of
CRY's inaugural Heart of
London Bridges Sponsored Walk in 2007 the event took place again in
2008, with over 600 CRY supporters in attendance. CRY Patron Kathryn Harries once again
led the walk, crossing 8 London bridges - each bridge representing one
of the 8 fit and healthy young people (aged 35 and under) who die
suddenly each week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions. |

Lodge
Hopetoun St. John No. 1232, a small Masonic Lodge located in Linlithgow,
West Lothian, organised a 15-mile sponsored walk
from “The Falkirk Wheel”
to Linlithgow. This is the third year in a row that the Lodge has
held fundraising events for CRY in memory of Lodge member David
Cochrane, who died suddenly in 2006 aged just 22. |

On July 15th, CRY
Patron Kathryn Harries was joined by over 400 CRY supporters on a sponsored walk crossing 8 bridges from
Westminster to Tower Bridge. The 8 bridges each signified one of the
8 apparently 'fit and healthy' young people who die
every week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions. |

Carol Stentaford were joined by 5 friends in tackling the West Highland Way in
Scotland. The walk was to raise money and awareness for CRY in memory of
Roy and Carol's son Kevin, who died suddenly whilst playing football in 2001,

Patron Simon Halliday joins 'Botham Walk 2006' - October 2006
Ian Botham has
been undertaking a series of walks through 17 UK cities in 9 days, to
raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund and the Teenage Cancer
Trust. Ian
invited CRY to join him for one of the city-walks, and so Simon Halliday donned
a CRY Heart costume and accompanied Ian through Oxford on the 16th
of October.

people took part in this annual event organised by Sandra Morland in memory of
her son Levon, who died in January 2002 from Wolfe Parkinson White Syndrome. |

Mark Fox's Sahara Desert Trek - 13th to 21st

Publications Co-ordinator Mark Fox trekked 100km in the Sahara Desert to raise
money for CRY in memory of his sister Laura. Mark battled baking desert
days, chilly desert nights, sandstorms and blisters to complete this epic
journey. |

route - 30th July to 6th August 2005
James Owens, Andy Blackett and Adam O’Byrne spent 8
days walking across England, passing through some of the country's most stunning
and challenging terrain. |

Steve
Sparkes and friends attempt to climb Snowdonia, Scafell Pike and Ben
Nevis - the highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland - all
within 24 hours. |

Fire
Walk
David Gregory took up the Fire Walk challenge and
hoped to raise a couple of hundred pounds for Cardiac Risk in the Young using
only online sponsorship with a personal fundraising Web page.

“It was the most horrendous thing any of us had ever done.
The elements were against us and by the time we finished we had gone 40
hours without sleep. But it was worth it, and
we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”

The
Snowdon Climb
John participated in a hike up Snowden which Linda helped organise in memory of their son Andrew
Blow who died while playing football for his University Hall of Residence football team on May 10th 1998.
The climb was blessed with good weather and so successful that John hopes to do it again. |
