The parents of a tragic teenager have issued an
anniversary thank you to everyone who has raised funds in her memory.
Kasia Ber, 17, died on December 28, 2005, from a
rare condition when a mobile phone alarm triggered an irregular heart
rhythm.
Her mother, Diane Ber, said while the festive
break made her miss her daughter even more, she has been lifted by Kasia's
friends who did a Boxing Day dip in her memory. She said: "We miss her
more and more every day.
"Hopefully we can keep the fundraising going in
her memory. Her friends are a fantastic bunch to do what they have
done."
So far, £7,000 has been raised for CRY - Cardiac
Risk in the Young - and the Kasia Ber memorial fund.
Kasia's father, John, has been trying to raise
awareness of the congenital condition called Long QT Syndrome which took his
daughter.
John, who lives in Brier Avenue, Horden, with
Diane and 16-year-old son Christopher said: "Hopefully lives are being saved
by talking about Kasia and the money is going to a very good cause.
The fundraising is going really well and her
friends who are raising this money are all young and taking time out over
Christmas. They have all really pulled together.
