A fund set up in memory of a hugely popular Ewell
school teacher, who died suddenly, raised over £5,000 in less than a day.
The school set up the memorial fund for Tony
Cooper, 38, a Glyn Technology School English teacher who collapsed at the
school and died after a cardiac arrest at Epsom Hospital on Wednesday
morning, which collected an astonishing £5,179 as of 11am today.
A contribution form the Tony Cooper Memorial Fund
will be made to the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young and the remainder of
the fund will be used to make a lasting memorial to Mr Cooper at Glyn
School.
A Facebook group set up on Wednesday already has
over 1,400 members among pupils and colleagues, who left tribute messages to
the teacher.
The fund set up in his honour is accepting
donations via www.glyn.surrey.sch.uk
A memorial service is planned for the teacher.
