People had their hearts tested for free as part of
a special event held in memory of a former student.
More than 100 people aged from 14 to 35 took up
the offer to have their hearts screened by charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the
Young) on Saturday at the Campion School in Wingletye Lane, Hornchurch, in
memory of James Patrick Patterson, who died in 2005.
James's father, Peter said: "The day was fantastic
and if we only managed to save the life of one person then I would feel
really satisfied."
James, from Billericay, died aged 28 from an
undiagnosed heart condition.
His father has raised more than £27,000 for CRY
through a fund in James' name.
