Sue's marathon bid for CRY charity

Rugby Advertiser - 20th January 2005

A Rugby nurse is getting super-fit in training for the London Marathon.

Sue Barnard, a cardiac rehabilitation nurse at Rugby’s Hospital of St Cross, is running to raise money for CRY.

The charity raises awareness of cardiac risk in the young and Sudden Death Syndrome.

Staff at Ken Marriott Leisure Centre in Rugby are supporting the cause by sponsoring Sue, appointing Lorna Harkness as her personal trainer.

Sue said: “I am new to exercise but I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

It is estimated that 80 per cent of non-traumatic (unexplained) sudden deaths that have occurred under the age of 35 are caused by inherited/congenital structural or functional cardio-vascular diseases, and that may just be the tip of the iceberg.

To sponsor Sue Barnard and raise money for CRY telephone (01788) 535851.
