Dr Sabiha Gati

CRY Research Fellow

I graduated in medicine (MBBS) at Guy’s, King’s & St. Thomas’ School of Medicine, London in 2004. Prior to this I completed a BSc degree in Physiology/Pharmacology at University College London for which I was awarded a 1st Class Honours.

After completing my junior medical training as a doctor, I obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2007.

Subsequently, I was appointed as a Specialist training registrar in cardiology and have completed 2 years of specialist training on the SE Thames London rotation.

In 2010, I successfully obtained a competitive grant from CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young - to pursue MD (Res) degree.

I am currently based at St. George’s University of London and University Hospital Lewisham, where I am undertaking research in the field of inherited cardiac diseases.  My research is specifically isolated left ventricular non-compaction cardiomyopathy.

I conduct clinics in cardiomyopathy and marfan syndrome and am an active member of the pre-participation screening program in athletes from the English Institute of Sport, Lawn Tennis Association, Premier Football League and Rugby Union.

In my spare time, I enjoy sports such as running and swimming and currently I am learning to play the piano.
