New labs 'promise' answers for
hundreds of bereaved families
The agonising wait endured by many
families following the sudden – and tragic – death of a child or partner
could soon be over as London opens the UK’s first ever ‘fast-track’
pathology laboratories to help analyse the causes of unexpected cardiac
death in ‘apparently’ fit and healthy young people. |

The Secretary of State for Media, Culture and
Sport - Andy Burnham MP - joins families whose children or partners died
suddenly whilst playing football, to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death
in the young at a launch at 11 Downing Street. |

CRY Parliamentary
Reception, July 2007
On Wednesday July 11th CRY hosted its annual Parliamentary
Reception at Westminster as part of its Raising Awareness Week. We were delighted to have CRY Patrons David
Walliams and Kathryn Harries as guests of honour. The event was attended
by around 30 MPs who
came to show their support for CRY’s campaigning.

Sportsman's Dinner & Bath Half Marathon - March 2007
After his fantastic fundraising and awareness
raising efforts for CRY at the
Bath Half Marathon 2006, CRY
Patron and former England Rugby International, Simon Halliday, was once again at the forefront of
two major CRY fundraising events in March 2007 - a Sportsman's Dinner at
the Marriott Hotel in London, and the Bath Half Marathon 2007. |

'Bath
FC - Ace of Clubs'. Bath Rugby DVD to raise funds for CRY - December
2006
CRY Patron Simon Halliday has put together a
DVD containing highlights of Bath Rugby Club matches between 1983 and
1995. The DVD, which also contains information about CRY, shows some
fantastic footage of Simon's former club, plus Bath Rugby stars in action
for England. It is available from the
Bath Rugby shop and
costs £12.95, which includes a £4 donation to CRY. |

CRY
Patron Simon Halliday joins 'Botham Walk 2006' - October 2006
Ian Botham has
been undertaking a series of walks through 17 UK cities in 9 days, to
raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund and the Teenage Cancer
Trust. Ian
invited CRY to join him for one of the city-walks, and so Simon
Halliday donned
a CRY Heart costume and accompanied Ian through Oxford on the 16th
of October.

Bath Half Marathon - March
2006
Simon Halliday played Centre for England and
Bath, and he was joined by a fantastic number of ex-Bath and ex-England
colleagues (and one former Australian international!) who came along to help make an unforgettable day. The
first part of the fundraiser, saw Simon and some of his old rugby pals
taking part in the Bath Half Marathon. |

Press Release: One year after the
publication of the new NSF Chapter 8 - March 2006
Today, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) publishes the
results of a new survey which indicates that one year on since the
introduction of Chapter 8: Arrhythmias and Sudden Cardiac Death of the
National Service Framework for Coronary Heart Disease, a staggering 97% of all
Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) interviewed said they had failed to develop a
strategy for implementing any of the new Chapter’s specific guidelines for
children and young people. |
