With
600 training miles behind them already, a group of Swansea Council workers are
continuing to pound the pavements ahead of the London Marathon.
Bob Fenwick and Mark Thomas,
who work in the council’s transport section, are gearing up for the big day on
April 17.
They will be running in aid of
The Shaw Trust based in Llandarcy, a national charity providing training and
work opportunities for people who are at a disadvantage in the labour market
due to disability, ill health or other circumstances. They are aiming to
raise at least £2,000 for their chosen charity.
Other council workers entered in the London
event are children’s play officer Stephen Cable, who is running his fourth
marathon, this time in aid of Cancer Research UK and food safety officer Katie
Young, a marathon newcomer who is raising funds for Cardiac Risk in the
Young.
