Sacre bleu - Swansea Marina turned a little
continental at the weekend.
the Lord Mayor's Boules Day returned for its
eighth year.
Hundreds turned out to support the popular event,
as players, many in fancy dress, took part to raise cash for charity.
Since its inauguration in 1999, the
French-style tournament has raised more than £21,000 for worthy causes.
This year's office-holder, Mair Gibbs, led the
Chain Gang into action against 15 other teams during the all-dayer.
This was the first time Councillor Gibbs had
stepped on to the pitch.
"It's a wonderful event which is full of fun -
come rain or shine," she added.
"Hopefully, we raised some much-needed money for
my charity fund."
This year the money is supporting the South Wales
Branch of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) as well as groups dealing with
children with special needs.
Musical entertainment was provided by Swansea
Accordion Orchestra with Gypsy Jazz and newcomers, the Ian James Band.
Swansea Bay Rotary Club, the Evening Post and the
Queen's Hotel, in Gloucester Place, organised the event.
Paul James, of the Rotary Club, said: "Everyone is
as enthusiastic about the event as ever."
