Cardiac cause gets a round of support

South Wales Evening Post -  25th May 2008

Liverpool football legend Alan Kennedy and Swans star Alan Tate got into the swing of things to honour a Swansea man who suddenly died playing football.

They were among 104 golfers who took part in a charity event at Lakeside Golf Course, Margam, to help raise just under £20,000 for CRY - Cardiac Risk in the Young.

The day was organised by HSBC workers Carl Dent and Lee Park.  In May last year, their colleague Mark Young was playing at the Playfootball centre in Treboeth when he collapsed and died while walking off the pitch.

He was 34 when he passed away, leaving behind a two-year-old daughter and an eight months' pregnant wife.

Mr Parkin said: "HSBC have agreed to give a pound for every pound raised."
