Sharen Stables

County Representative

In 2002 our son Lee went backpacking round the world with his girlfriend Rachel. On the 3rd March we received a phone call to say that he had died in Goa in India.

Unfortunately no reason could be found. It took 18 months for the Inquest in England, where the coroner diagnosed 'causes unknown'.

Sudden Adult Death Syndrome was the result but can't have been acknowledged at the time, as this couldn't be put on a certificate.

Thanks to the CRY website I realised our daughter Toni should also be checked, and thankfully she was fine.

However, with her now being pregnant they have gone the extra mile with her and had her on a 24-hour heart monitor to check she was OK, which put all our minds at ease.

I have found that CRY has helped me enormously - just knowing there are people out there in the same boat, helping each other.

Also, fundraising keeps Lee's memory alive and hopefully stops other families suffering the trauma of losing a child
