From TV filming in Hyde
to representing PM in Madrid...
2.30 pm – National charity
Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) is launching a postcard campaign at
Stalybridge Celtic Football Club to raise awareness about heart problems in
young people and promote screening for those at risk.
Mr Purnell is already on
board with the campaign.
He
addressed the launch attended by the relatives of eight youngsters from the
North West, who had their lives cut tragically short by Sudden Death
Syndrome.
They included parents David and Cath Pover,
from Carrbrook, Stalybridge, whose 17-year-old son Mark collapsed and died
from a massive heart attack seven minutes into a game of football.
Speaking at the launch Mr
Purnell said: “I think we are getting our message across. There is a huge
amount of support in Parliament for this campaign.
“Sending these cards to
local MP’s will make a massive difference and help raise awareness about this
problem.”
