Dinner dance raises £5,000

The Argus - 24th March 2006

A Mayor's dinner and dance raised almost £5,000 for charity.

The event at the Winter Garden in Eastbourne was in aid of the charity CRY, which stands for Cardiac Risk in the Young.

The town's mayor Graham Marsden said: "I want to thank everybody who joined us for what was a memorable evening of fun, good food, dancing and an excellent cabaret.

"So many people helped to make the evening a success, from those who made donations to the many local businesses and residents who provided raffle prizes and advertisers in the souvenir programme.

We have raised a significant sum for my charity, CRY.  This means we can purchase medical equipment to help overcome those undiagnosed heart conditions that lead to the tragic loss of young lives."
