The second annual Run Armagh 10K event will be
held on Sunday April 18.
Race director Matthew Nicholson anticipates
another large entry field following the huge success from last year's event.
"Last year we had over 500 entrants, which was
fantastic for the inaugural event," he said.
"Again, interest in the event has been huge.
Entry to the event is available via the official Run Armagh 10K website -
www.runarmagh.com - as well as
all the information about race day, training plans, latest news and anything
else you could want to know."
The Run Armagh 10K is a non-profit making event,
with ALL monies raised through entry fees and fundraising going directly to
Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
"Last year's event raised £8,000 for CRY, which
has been put to great use at the screening clinic in the University of
Ulster at Jordanstown, added Matthew.
"In addition to the top class athletes at the
front, we had a large number of walkers towards the back of the field.
Runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities are
most welcome to come along and enjoy the course and atmosphere the event is
sure to serve up.
"Lasts year we attracted runners from all over
Ireland, including some from England, Scotland and as far away as Canada.
"So, if you fancy a challenge, are in need of a
New Year's resolution, or you just fancy losing a few pounds after
Christmas, why not get motivated by signing up for the Run Armagh 10K.
I look forward to seeing all registered runners, joggers and walkers at the
starting line on Sunday, April 18."
The course will remain unchanged from last year -
starting on College Hill the course takes athletes onto the Portadown Road,
heading towards the Drummanmore and Ballybrannon Roads before moving onto
the Loughall Road, along Railway Street and on to the finishing line on Mall
East.
A larger prize fund will be made available for all
categories of entrant. All participants must be aged 15 and above on
race day and be in good physical health.
