A
charity fun run held in memory of a city man who died suddenly from a heart
condition raised £2,500 for charity.
Scott McCollin was 20 years old when he died from a sudden
adult death syndrome (SADS) – his heart failed because of the condition that
he didn’t know he had. His family and friends held the five km Rainbow Fun
Run at Willen Lake on Saturday to mark his 23rd birthday.
Money was raised for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), a charity
that helps families that have lost loved ones, promotes heart screening and
raises awareness of the heart conditions.
“It was a fantastic day, because of the good support and the
weather we had,” said Mel Haynes, Scott’s sister.
She also thanked the Royal Bank of Scotland, Scott’s former
employers, and All Delicious Sandwiches for their support.
