Saint
Catherine’s College, Armagh, and Saint Joseph’s High School,
Coalisland, U16 Ladies Gaelic Football teams took to the field at Eglish
GAA ground on Saturday in memory of the late Cormac McAnallen.
Cormac
was a valued and dedicated member of staff at Saint Catherine’s College
where he also managed the Gaelic football teams.
The
Under 16 team wished to remember their teacher, mentor, coach and role
model by continuing to develop the Gaelic skills Cormac so generously
shared with them and taught them with such pride, distinction and
integrity.
It
was an emotional occasion for the Armagh school as it was the first game
they played since Cormac’s untimely and tragic death.
There
was a large attendance at the game including Cormac’s family, his fiancée
Ashlene, representatives from both schools, the local Eglish community and
the Tyrone team.
Principal
of Saint Catherine’s College, Margaret Martin, said that one of the
reasons for organising the match was to publicise the charity CRY (Cardiac
Risk in the Young) and the spectators displayed much generosity in
supporting the charity.
“The
match idea came from the students themselves, they wanted some way to pay
tribute to the very unselfish way Cormac gave of himself to train teams in
Saint Catherine’s College.
