Below are details of upcoming events.  Some are on a set date like the London Marathon while others, such as parachute jump or white water rafting, can be arranged at your convenience. Some are Memorial events organised by supporters of CRY, while others are offered by professional fundraising organisations.  There are also some overseas fundraising challenges!

Jack's Day - in memory of Jack Boulton

This year, Saltford Sports club are organising their annual event for Jack which will now be called “Jacks Day”. It will be held on the evening of Friday 24th May 2013 at Saltford football club starting at 19:00. The evening will involve a football match between Jacks female friends, a match between a Saltford FC IX V KCC X1, BBQ, Disco, Raffle (which will include some fantastic prizes) and will have activities for the kids.  If you have any questions about the evening or think you can help in anyway please contact Chris Dudbridge via email Chris_dudbridge@hotmail.com.

London to Brighton Challenge

Most will walk the 100km, some will jog parts, and others will take it on as an Ultra-Marathon. However you decide to tackle the London 2 Brighton Challenge it will be a definitive, but achievable, test of endurance and determination. This challenge is more than a one off event - it's a journey you won’t forget. It starts with a training regime some months beforehand, through to the anticipation and excitement at the start line, and after a long night on weary limbs, with the Brighton Coast in view, celebrating the overwhelming sense of achievement. It finishes when you've had time to reflect on what that achievement really means to you, and where the next challenge lies. For more information or to register click here.

Tour de Kent 13

A bike ride with a difference: cycling round the football grounds of Kent, alongside footballers and other sports celebrities past & present. There are 3 options; on Sat 25 May, a pleasant 15 mile country road trundle from Gillingham to Sittingbourne or a full day 53 mile ride down coastal routes from Gillingham to Margate, visiting 6 of the grounds. The full Tour de Kent is a 3 day, 200 mile ride with overnight accommodation visiting 21 grounds in the county starting & finishing at Priestfield Stadium, the home of ride partner Gillingham FC. Bupa London 10,000

The BUPA London 10,000 starts (and finishes) in The Mall and follows a route around the City of Westminster and City of London. Runners pass many of London’s famous sights including, Admiralty Arch, Nelson’s Column, St Paul’s Cathedral, Mansion House, Bank of England, Leadenhall Market, The Monument, Millennium Bridge, Tate Gallery, Cleopatra’s Needle, London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and start and finish with the backdrop of Buckingham Palace . Charity Fun Day - in memory of Sarah Tenwick

Teresa Tenwick-Ford and her friends and family will be holding a fundraising event at the GameKeeper Restaurant on Monday 27th May (bank holiday) from 11am-5pm.  They are holding a promotional stall selling promotional stock, as well as a raffle and facepainting in the children's wacky warehouse. Open Garden - in memory of Adam Pearmine

There will be an Open Garden at Abbeycroft, The Street, Stratfield Mortimer, Reading RG7 3PE in the memory of Adam Pearmine and in aid of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) on Sunday 2nd June 2013 - 10am – 5pm. Abbeycroft is an 18th Century former rectory surrounded by 5 acres of garden. There are many mature trees and much of the garden is currently being re-established having been overgrown for many years.  There will be cakes, sandwiches and teas available throughout the day.  Entrance for adults is £2.50. Children go for free

Song for Stevie - Rose Theatre, Kingston
Phil Packer MBE introduces a fundraiser for CRY: an eclectic evening mix of live indie, rock and popular music; poetry readings by the great and the good of the literary world; plus dance and musical theatre numbers. All of which will leave you exhilarated, in love with the arts, in love with life. All proceeds will go to CRY. F
eaturing poetry by Christopher Reid, Anne-Marie Fyfe and Claire Crowther; music by Nylon Sky, Miccoli and Robyn Mae; dance by Summer & Co; and musical theatre from the Susan Roberts Academy.  The evening will also feature the SCJ Poetry Award ceremony and photography exhibition.

Charity Boxing Night

On Saturday 8th June an evening of entertainment is to be held at The Midlands Hotel in Manchester. Tickets are priced at £75 per head. Eight bouts of live White Collar Boxing, a champagne reception, and a 3 course meal are included in the ticket price. Dress code is ‘black tie’ and a charity auction with the chance to bid for memorabilia. All of the proceeds made on the evening will be donated to Cancer Research and CRY. Ride UK24 - Manchester to London

Start at the home of Team GB cycling – the Manchester Velodrome. Feel the adrenaline rise as 500 riders line up alongside ready to take on a challenge that few will forget. 250 miles of tarmac lies ahead, London’s Victoria Park close to the Olympic Park is the finish, a celebration awaits at the end of an epic journey. Trans Pennine Challenge - Manchester to Sheffield
Setting out from the urban landscape of the city of Manchester – a 100km journey lies ahead for walkers, runners, joggers, friends and colleagues. The route journeys through the Peak District national park, over the Pennines across the historic Trans Pennine trail. Through day and night challengers will continue to the finish line - in Sheffield 100km later where a celebration and an over whelming sense of achievement await. Bookham To Brooklands Charity Car Run

Leatherhead Round Table are proud to present the Bookham to Brooklands Charity Car Run on Sunday 23rd June 2013.  Following the success of previous runs, this year they have the opportunity of finishing at the fantastic and prestigious Brooklands Museum. Open to all cars, however limited to 25 entries only so act now to avoid disappointment. Run entry fee is just £50 per car including entry to museum for driver, rally board, plaque and tulip route plan. Land's End to John O'Groats cycle ride in memory of Jack Boulton

A group of friends from Bristol will be taking on the Land's End to John O'Groats cycle ride and aiming to complete it in 13 days.  They are all personally motivated by this significant challenge in memory of Jack Boulton and will be  funding expenses for the trip themselves so that all monies raised will be donated direct to CRY. Welsh 3's Mountain Challenge

Dennis Tailor and friends from the Grace Community Church will again be fundraising for CRY and the Friends of CME Trust.  This year's event will be a mountain challenge, climbing all fifteen 3000ft mountains in Wales in 24 hours!  Transport , accommodation and fundraising assistance will all be included in the pledge of £350 set.  For any enquiries or if you would like to take part please call Dennis on 07885 472 947.

Join CRY on the 7th CRY Heart of London Bridges Walk to raise awareness and funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). Moonriders Cycle - London to Brighton

From capital to coast - don’t just ride it. Night ride it! Experience the renowned route in the magnificence of a moonlit night, decorated by your fellow florescent riders. Starting in Stratford, East London, feel the party atmosphere build as you get ready to take on 100km. Enjoy the group camaraderie and enjoy the space on the roads as you go at your own pace. You'll conquer the infamous hill of Ditchling Beacon, climbing to one of the highest points on the South Downs. As you pedal closer to the finish line, the sun will begin to rise, and you'll be welcomed in by friends and supporters. Charity Gig - in memory of Lizzi Harrison

On the 13th July, Wheelz, a 7 piece 60’s band, will be holding a summer dance to raise funds for CRY in memory of Lizzi Harrison.  The event will be held at the Hullbridge Sports and Social Club, Lower Road, Hullbridge, Essex, SS5 6BJ. Doncaster Tourism and Rotary Club of St George’s Dragon Boat Challenge

The Dragon Boat Challenge is back for its fourth year to the Lakeside Doncaster this time to raise funds for CRY and other good causes. The event is open to everyone and the crews are expected to battle it out over a 200m course, watched by crowds of spectators. Last year the teams who took part in the Dragon Boat event helped to raise over £10000, for the Rotary charities. Crews must comprise of up to 10 paddlers plus a drummer - squads may be larger. Prudential RideLondon - Surrey 100 - CRY places now confirmed!

Hot on the heels of cycling's amazing success at the London 2012 Games and Bradley Wiggins' stellar achievement at the Tour de France, we are proud to be promoting London's great new cycling challenge - RideLondon 100. Starting at The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, participants will cycle the roads across London and into Surrey, following the famous road race route of the 2012 Games, finishing 100 miles later on The Mall. They will be followed by some of the world's greatest cyclists who will be taking part in RideLondon Classic, so riders must be able to finish this exciting new challenge in under 9 hours. Ride UK24 - Newcastle to London

Starting out in Gateshead, close to the Metro Centre; at midday the first groups of the 500 strong field will set out on a truly momentous journey – 300 miles south to the finish line near the Olympic Park in London. A true test of endurance cycling – through the day and night, long stretches of flat tarmac on the eastern side of the country, fully supported all the way, food and drink en route and a celebration at the end. Run to the Beat powered by Nike+ - Music Half Marathon, London
Taking place on the 8th September 2013, over 19,000 runners will be making their way around the iconic 13.1 mile course starting and finishing in the stunning new location of Greenwich Park. As ‘London’s Music Half Marathon’ Run to the Beat powered by Nike+ prides itself on giving you more than just a running event.

Thames Path Challenge

The Thames Path National Trail is unique, with its beautiful scenery, steeped in history. The trail serves as a superb backdrop for a simply exceptional challenge You can either take part in the 100 km route – Putney to Henley, a tough 24 hour Endurance Walk or Ultra-Marathon run or 50 km with a few options to suit all! (Two daytime walks or runs, plus an overnight walk).  Sign up as a team of friends, colleagues or family and support each other, or join as an individual and meet fellow challengers along the way. Windsor Half Marathon - CRY Places available

2013 sees the 31st running of the Windsor Half Marathon. The setting for the Windsor Half Marathon is one of the most beautiful in the UK, the start and finish being the Long Walk with Windsor Castle as the backdrop. CRY Durham Riverside Walk
The CRY Durham Riverside Walk pairs beautiful countryside with the stunning backdrop of Durham’s cityscape to provide incredible views. The walk is a circular route, starting & finishing at the rowing club, and is approximately 7km long.  Registration costs £10 in advance or £15 on the day. Children aged 16 and under go free but must be accompanied by an adult.  Online registration will open mid-May but you can register your interest by emailing events@c-r-y.org.uk.

Halloween Moonriders

With a rich history steeped in centuries of ghastly tales, London is one of the world's spookiest cities, where history still haunts the streets, buildings and ancient towers. As the moon casts shadows over Halloween 2013, join hundreds of fellow riders on our creepy 100km cycle of the city. Pass the haunted landmarks, as you pedal between our frightening pit-stops, enjoying a real Halloween celebration. It will certainly be a Friday Fright Night you won't forget in a hurry... The Big Heart Bike Ride in Jordan

The Big Heart Bike Ride is a very special and unique event - it is the first Open Challenge of its kind whereby everyone taking part will be raising funds for the heart charity of their choice.

 

You can make a real difference in the fight against heart disease by signing up for the Big Heart Bike Ride in Jordan. The Big Heart Bike Ride in Jordan entails five days of consecutive cycling for a distance of 350kms from Jerash to Petra via the Dead Sea.

London Marathon
Have you been inspired by the 36,000 people who ran this year's Virgin London Marathon? Do you want to take on the 26.2 mile race for CRY? If you would like to be considered for a CRY place, please email events@c-r-y.org.uk and we will let you know how to apply.  The public ballot has now closed (after only 12 hours!) so you are unable to get your own place anymore. London Marathon places are in high demand so we can't unfortunately guarantee that everybody will get a place.

Trek Uganda

Trek the Impenetrable Forest – home of the Mountain Gorillas of Uganda and raise funds for CRY. This amazing adventure takes you to Bwindi ‘The Impenetrable Forest’ in Uganda’s mountainous far southwestern tip where you will have the opportunity to track Mountain Gorillas and the Golden Monkey in its natural habitat of bamboo forest. Lets Trek for Children - Hike the Himalayas

Hike the Himalayas in beautiful Nepal and raise funds for CRY.  This is a once in a lifetime trekking challenge in the beautiful country of Nepal.  The challenge is on to trek to Poon Hill (3,210m). The challenge will take us through charming Nepalese villages where we will experience the culture of the mountain people of Nepal first hand. Parachute Jump
If you have ever wanted to do a parachute jump here is your chance.  No experience is necessary as all training is given. You can jump for free if you raise a certain minimum amount of sponsorship money (amount varies by type of jump).

White Water Rafting
If you have ever wanted to have a go at white water rafting here is your chance. Teams of 6 to 8 people are required to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship for the charity and in return you will get to raft for free.

'Lost Weekend' - band available for charity events

Lost Weekend is a Stockport-based rock band made up of four enthusiastic mature guys who enjoy performing music together. Primarily, we play covers, although our drummer has written some songs. We play music from the 50s right through to contemporary stuff.

Fire walking - walking barefoot over red hot coals is the ultimate test of mind over matter. You can face your fears by joining the charity fire walking challenge. A truly unique experience not to be missed!
