London Marathon

17th April 2011

I completed the London Marathon in 6 hours 26 minutes :-)

It was so hot in London - I saw so many runners (and spectators) being carried off by the St. John's Ambulance and I didn't want to be one of them so I took it really easy.

I ran quite comfortably until 8 miles when the side of my leg really hurt (IT Band for those in the know). I've not suffered at all on any long runs in training so I was a bit disappointed.

Running over Tower Bridge was the most memorable; and seeing Nick and the girls twice (for big hugs) was emotional. I was lucky to also get hugs from the water station where I usually am on Marathon day (and will be again next year!!!!).

I would like to thank you all for your support. The charity CRY were absolutely amazing - they looked after me from the moment I finished by carrying my bags and giving me food, drink and a sit down; followed by a massage and shower at a hotel nearby.

I am still collecting donations but it looks like I will raise £2500 for CRY - THANK YOU SO MUCH.
