Golf day boost for charity

The Watford Observer - 23rd September 2005

Golfers hit the green for the ninth year running on Sunday to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

The Howard Jennings CRY Memorial Golf tournament took place at Little Hay Golf Club, Bovingdon.  Sixty-five players from all around the country joined in.

The winner was Patrick Furlong playing in the Bekker UK team, second was Paul Clark playing in the Atlas Copco team and third was Alan Byrne playing in the Computacenter team.  The ladies prize was won by Roxanne Masters.  Nearest the Pin was won by Gary Taylor representing Bekker UK and Longest Drive, Barry Taylor, Computacenter.

The event is organised by Keeley Ashley, in memory of her brother, Howard, who died of a heart condition when he was 33 years of age.

The golf day raised £2,600 for CRY through sponsorship, donations, a raffle and auction.

CRY raises awareness of cardiac risk in the young and supports those who have suffered a loss.  It also promotes screening, ECG testing programmes and contributes to medical research.

If you are interested in playing in future tournaments telephone Keeley Ashley via the CRY office on 01737 363 222.
