A heartbroken dad who lost his baby daughter to a
rare cardiac condition is preparing to do a half marathon in her memory.
Kendal couple Robert Reid and Suzanne Hogg lost
little Kayleigh in January, after she was born suffering from the rare
defect Ebstein's Anomaly.
Desperate for something to focus on - and keen to
raise money for charities which are close to the family's heart - Mr Reid
will join his partner's cousin Liam O'Callaghan for the Great North Run.
"Since we lost Kayleigh we've just been taking
each day at a time but is still too painful for me to visit the cemetery,"
explained Mr Reid, 33.
The National Road resident added: "I'm raising
money for the Rainbow Trust, which helps give terminally ill children time
with their families, while Liam is running in aid of Cardiac Risk in the
Young."
Mr Reid is already pounding the streets of Kendal
several time a week to get fit for the September 20 event.
