Great Wilderness Challenge

18th - 19th August 2006

Pictured below are Cadets from 161 (Ullapool) Detached Flight Air Training Corps presenting a cheque for £1750 to local Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)  representative, Mrs Alex Fotheringham.

The Cadets have raised a total of £13,100 for CRY over the last 9 years, by participating in the Great Wilderness Challenge, where they are sponsored to take part in a 13 mile cross country walk through  the hills of Wester Ross.

Squadron Leader Alastair Armitstead handing over the cheque said "Our aim is to break the £15000 level next year.  The Ullapool unit is the smallest in the Highlands so their efforts are even more  impressive".

The CRY charity supports medical research into Young Sudden Cardiac Death and supports a national screening programme aimed at young people who may not know they have a heart abnormality.
