A photo of a 15-year-old boy from Worcestershire
who died suddenly due to an undetected heart condition features on a provoking
new postcard to raise awareness of cardiac death in the young.
Robert Poysor will be seen
alongside seven other young people, including 32-year-old Scott Alan Jackson,
also from the county, who all lost their lives to the condition before they
were 35.
Pioneering heart charity
Cardiac Risk in the Young, which is launching the postcard, is campaigning for
cardiac screening to be more accessible. Alison Cox, founder and chief
executive of CRY, said: “By showing just some of the faces behind the stories
we read and hear about all too often we can help people begin to understand
the heartbreak caused by this cruel killer and highlight the fact that it can
happen to anyone, at anytime.
“Yet these eight faces –
representing the eight lives lost a week in the UK – show just a snapshot of
the problem.
“We need to keep up the
pressure and engage support from as many MPs as possible to make sure we can
prevent other families from experiencing such tragic losses."
