CRY Great Cake Bake

Thank you so much for getting involved in the CRY Great Cake Bake 2024 to raise awareness and funds for CRY. This will be the 13th year that we have held this event and, following its previous success, we have had more wonderful support from bakers and sponsors this year. In 2023 supporters raised over £11,000 bringing the total raised to £242,516.33 since 2012!

We look forward to seeing all your efforts for this year’s event and we would love to see photos of your wonderful creations. If you would like to help raise awareness during the day, do not forget to share your photos and creations on social media using the hashtag #CRYGreatCakeBake

Planning is key to hosting a successful bake sale, so start organising your event early and decide on a venue, invite people to take part and encourage them to donate some bakes. Over the years, we’ve had supporters holding events in schools, universities, workplaces, offices and even dedicated mornings at village halls.

Planning

  • The more bakes on offer at your event, and the more people you can encourage to come along, the more money you’re likely to raise for CRY. So, don’t be afraid to spread the word, post on social media, hang posters in your local area, and ask local businesses if they will take a flyer or two.
  • Raffles are a popular and fun way of raising a little extra money, even better if you use some of your bakes as prizes. 
  • Hold a baking competition between friends and family, or colleagues – make it a fundraiser by asking for a £2 donation per entry.
  • Register your event with us and receive a pack with posters, invitations, bunting and more materials to get you set for success.
  • Send out an email invite to let people know how you’ll be taking part. Use our template here.

Save some 'dough'

  • Got any leftovers? Why not find your local food bank or homeless shelter to donate your unsold bakes to.
  • Bake together, or plan together! Particularly if you are not a frequent baker. Split your ingredients with a friend and save on wastage and spending on ingredients.
  • Think about buying your ingredients from an anti-waste, refill shop where you can weight the exact amounts you need for your bake. Try the ‘Refill’ app HERE for the nearest store like this near you.

Fundraising Tips

  • Set up an online fundraising page for those that can’t make it but want to support your efforts. Check out our JustGiving page HERE to donate and join our campaign.
  • Don’t forget to leave a collection box or two out for your bake sale!
  • Setting up a fundraiser on social media is a great way to get people donating. Facebook and Instagram both make this process super easy! Don’t forget to tag us in your posts #CRYGreatCakeBake
