Dr Chris Miles

Chris is a cardiology research fellow at St George’s, University of London. He completed his undergraduate training at Imperial College London and the University of Bristol Medical School in 2009. After obtaining membership of the Royal College of Physicians, he commenced specialist training in cardiology in 2013, most recently working as a registrar in cardiac electrophysiology at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

In 2018, Chris won the Young Investigator Award in Sports Cardiology at Europrevent, awarded by the European Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation. He was also a finalist for the British Cardiovascular Society ‘Best of the Best’ clinical abstracts session in Manchester the same year. In 2017, Chris was a finalist for the European Society of Cardiology Young Investigator Award in Clinical Science at the ESC Congress in Barcelona.

Chris is interested in the causes of sudden cardiac death in the young, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, and inherited arrhythmia syndromes. He was awarded a BHF Clinical Research Training Fellowship to investigate the pathological and genomic basis of arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy and Brugada syndrome. Chris is an honorary research fellow for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and also assists with their national screening programme.
