Throughout the month of June, Healthy Hearts, in partnership with Wave Leisure are offering members and the public the chance to stretch themselves with a fitness target and raise sponsorship for CRY at the same time.
By choosing a target to swim, walk, run, row or cycle, the participants are not only doing themselves some good in maintaining or improving their fitness, but they will be helping us to hold local screening days and contribute to the research projects that CRY are undertaking. We have held screening previously at local schools and colleges, and now want to offer the public in and around Lewes the chance to be screened.
The Healthy Hearts start event will be on Saturday June 1st, 12:00 to 14:00 at Wave Leisure in Lewes. We are currently persuading some local celebrities to come along and help us get the events off to a bang. There will be a raffle, hopefully a cake stall, a CRY stall and more importantly, lots of people looking to start their challenges.
There will be pop up events through out June, some at Wave Leisure, some elsewhere in the region. Details of these events will be on the Healthy Hearts website. Click here to visit.
On Sunday June 30th, we will also be holding a party from 15:00 to 17:00 to congratulate people on finishing their challenges, saying thank you to all the team and again there may well be cake.
People do not have to be members of Wave Leisure to do these challenges, they can either look to take membership with Wave, details on their website here, or find alternative ways to complete the challenges in a safe environment.
With all this hard work going on, we want to raise enough money for at least a couple of screening days and a healthy contribution to research. We know from our own experience how cruel and random SADS can be, and hope that we can do something to help families reduce the risk of suffering loss.
