The Wylde Green Rotary Club is bringing back a life-saving heart screening program to Sutton Coldfield on June 29th, in partnership with CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). This initiative is deeply personal to Club President Paul Lane, whose son Anthony tragically passed away at 26 from an undiagnosed heart condition.
Last year’s screening tested 103 young people, with three referred for further treatment—potentially saving lives. CRY’s screenings use ECGs to detect hidden heart conditions, crucial since 12 young people die weekly in the UK from undiagnosed cardiac issues.
Thanks to fundraising efforts, including a £19,500 pledge from Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust, the program will continue for years. The event is a tribute to Anthony, a talented Formula One engineer, whose legacy lives on through this vital cause.
