Memorial game of Students XI Vs Legends XI sponsored by Cardiac Risk in the Young.
14th September 2019, 5pm Kick off at Tooting and Mitcham Sports grounds. £1 to watch!
This years game comes with added emotion as we remember Olly King. As well as an being an incredible paramedic in his final year, Olly was a strong member of St George’s Football Club and a regular starter in the second team under Matt Bayly’s captaincy during his second year. Olly helped get the 2s into their first final for 50+ years and had consistently great performances at right back. He was then nominated as best newcomer and most improved by a host of the 2s team.
But back in April, as we all know, Olly sadly and suddenly passed away from a cardiac condition he didn’t know he had. This game is to celebrate Olly and his life, in and out of football.
For those who haven’t heard of today’s amazing sponsor, the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young – CRY – prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research as well as supporting affected families. The money we raise today through playing and you fans watching is funding a mobile unit to go down to Torquay, Olly’s home town, and screen young people for cardiac conditions.

Friends… come down, watch and support Olly’s cause. The football will almost certainly be questionable but the atmosphere and emotion of the game will not. If you can’t make it, no pressure but all proceedings from the day e.g. donation boxes and quid to watch will go towards Olly’s fund.
See you there!
