Manage

CRY’s research is preventing tragedies by transforming the way people who are living with cardiac conditions are managed once they have been identified

In order for us to understand the best way to manage those who are affected by cardiac conditions, our research focuses on improving

  • The way we manage those at risk
    • The role of different medications as therapy
    • When is surgery warranted (e.g. ablation)
    • The role of internal cardio defibrillators
    • Lifestyle advice (e.g. avoidance of certain medications/drugs and activities)
  • How those affected adjust psychologically
    • The important role of peer to peer support networks
    • The need to reduce clinical uncertainty when possible
    • The role of specialised units in helping adjustment
    • Understanding limitations and why the specific limitations are recommended
  • How people exercise after a diagnosis
    • Individualised advice on exercise to help manage risks
    • Maximising the benefits of exercise for health and psychological wellbeing

CRY’s research is changing the way clinicians manage patients after a diagnosis is made, highlighting the importance of specialised individualised advice. CRY’s research is helping those people identified with conditions to live a good quality of life with an understanding of their limitations as well as the important role of exercise for their general physical and mental wellbeing.
