James Poynton wrote the words for ‘Girl’ when he was 8 years old. Just before his 12th birthday, James died suddenly of an undiagnosed heart condition. Whilst he was alive, James asked his friend Barry Waring to set the words to music. Barry did so, and subsequently was honoured to be asked to play the finished
