The Pete Hinchliffe Travel Award for Medics is presented annually to CRY’s most outstanding Research Fellow. The award provides a grant of £1,000 for the winner to travel to international conferences to showcase their research findings and learn from their counterparts in the global cardiology community.
Pete Hinchliffe, who worked as a personal trainer, died suddenly in 2010 whilst out cycling, from a previously undiagnosed heart condition known as Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC). He was aged 33 and tragically died just 6 months after getting married. Pete, from Balby, was an extremely fit man who had been a semi-professional road cyclist, competing at both local and national level. Following his death, Pete’s family became involved with CRY, raising funds and awareness to support CRY’s vital work.
