CRY’s research is preventing tragedies by transforming the way we investigate those people at greater risk of sudden cardiac death (YSCD).
In order for us to understand the best way to investigate those at risk our research focuses on improving our understanding of
- How to test first degree blood relatives after a YSCD
- Linking post mortem findings with clinical findings of all family members
- The role of different tests during the family screening, including MRI and ajmaline tests
- Risk stratification
- How symptoms affect risk
- What is the role of family history when an abnormality is identified
- Sensitivity / specificity
- Ensuring the testing procedure is able to identify those people at risk whilst reassuring those who are not at risk
