We managed to raise £100 for Cardiac Risk in the Young on our JustGiving page by race day, which I’m really happy with!
David and I became friends at university where we lived together for a year. He was a victim of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome and died the same weekend that I had previously competed in Survival of the Fittest in October 2012.
The annual event being close to the anniversary of David’s death and being able to use it as a fundraising opportunity were what motivated me to take part in the race again in David’s memory.
The race itself was loads of fun, although sadly my friend Ant damaged his knee at the first obstacle and had to be taken to hospital. He wished me and James good luck before leaving us though, and the two of us carried on to complete the course in 1 hour and 45 minutes.
As cold, wet and muddy as we were when we crossed the finish line, we can’t wait to do it again with a bigger team, and get a faster time next year!
