We are thrilled to announce the newest members of our Board of Trustees. With their wealth of experience and passion, they’re sure to make a valuable contribution to CRY’s work.
Extensively experienced in driving up business and board performance through strategic people development and robust governance, Monique combines a 28-year track record as a strategic leadership consultant with a portfolio of board positions. Formally a Non-Exec Director for Premier League club Brentford FC, where she was a board champion for EDI and Wellbeing. She is also a Board Director for Women in Football, a Board Advisor for Level Equals, an inclusive hiring consultancy and the Board Clubs and Leagues Advisor for 1212, a Micro Learning App that educates academy athletes.
“I am delighted to be joining CRY as a Trustee. I was first made aware of CRY after the incredible support they gave to Suzanne Rowan, the widow of the Technical Director at Brentford FC, Rob Rowan, who prematurely and sadly passed away at the age of 28, five years ago. Since then, Brentford FC, where I was an NED until recently, has continued to support CRY and bring more attention to the work they are doing through several impactful initiatives. As someone who is committed to making a difference and sustained impact for people and having a personal connection to those who have had early diagnosis of heart conditions, it felt the right match for me.
I look forward to supporting CRY in their efforts to raise much-needed funds to extend screening to people and communities and for them to continue to offer bereavement support to those sadly affected. It is my wish to help secure a fantastic future for a charity doing amazing and often unrecognised work. “
James is the Managing Director of Selectamark Security Systems, a family-owned security marking and asset registration business based in Kent. He has been fundraising for CRY since the sudden cardiac death of his wife Katrina in 2006, and with friends and family they have raised almost £250,000.
James’ previous experience as a trustee was with The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals Charitable Trust, which amongst other things, helps support those in need who work, or have worked, in the security, armed forces and blue light services.
“It is such a privilege to become a trustee of CRY. I have known Alison and Steven Cox, and Professor Sharma for over 15 years, and I have so much respect for them and their determination, professionalism and dedication to such an important cause. I am excited about this opportunity and to play a small part in helping prevent other families going through the type of tragedy we went through.”
Dr Steven Cox, CRY Chief Executive, writes, “We are thrilled to welcome Monique and James to CRY as Trustees. Their commitment to our cause and wealth of experience will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts in saving young lives across the UK.”
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Monique and James.
