The Pramraceteam is an eclectic gathering of manhood, drawn predominantly, but not exclusively, from Chobham Rugby Club members.
As with many of life’s finest ideas it all started over a beer, or rather a good many beers. Thankfully one of the team founders remembered the idea the following day and in late 2005, the Pramraceteam was spawned.
This year we were raising money for CRY. In the last few years, two of the team have been touched by heart conditions affecting their teenage children. Thankfully both were diagnosed early and, following treatment, they are enjoying normal, busy lives.
CRY Patron Rob Andrew MBE sent the team a good luck message, saying:
“I want to thank Chobham Rugby Club for their support of CRY and wish them a successful event for this worthwhile cause”
Over £7000 has been raised for CRY so far, and when all donations and pledges are collected, the final total is expected to be more than £7500.
It is still possible to sponsor the team, either by going to http://www.justgiving.com/pramraceteam or by writing a cheque payable to CRY and sending it to Mike Vandenberg, 63 Hawkesworth Drive, Bagshot, Surrey, GU19 5QY.
