Raising Awareness for CRY 21st April 2023
I contacted my local ASDA store a little while ago asking if I could have an information stand to raise awareness within our community of Young Sudden Cardiac Death & to promote the work undertaken by CRY. The Community Champion called me & we quickly identified a date.
My dear friend Donna Williams joined me on Friday 21st April. We quickly set up the table with leaflets & started chatting with people. We met many people who were living with heart conditions, quite literally from ARVC to WPW – as per the booklet. The majority of young people in these people’s families, despite being immediate relatives, were not being monitored. Leaflet were handed out & people were genuinely pleased to be able register their interest in Heart Screening through Test My Heart.
We handed out over 150 Heart Screening Leaflets. £80 was collected in the charity pot. Most importantly we met three people directly affected by a Young Sudden Cardiac Death, including a Mum. These families were unaware of CRY & have now been directed to the charity for information, advice & support.
ASDA will be sharing information about our awareness stand on their social media platforms & within the organisation through its community newsletter.
