We completed the 10k Spotlight Challenge back in September and raised over £1,340 for Cardiac Risk in the Young in memory of Alexandra Reid who was a dear friend of my little sister.

We were very fortunate to receive some very generous sponsorship for our run, partly because sudden cardiac death has affected so many more people than you realise. It is often not until you start making people aware of your familiarity with CRY, that they share their relationship with the charity. Just as we started the race, we were told we would be sponsored an extra £10 for every minute we finished under one hour. This spurred us on to finish in a time that far exceeded our personal expectations!

Personally, it was my first 10k run and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would encourage anyone to take up a new challenge for CRY as you never know, the new challenge might turn into a hobby!
