Since CRY was founded in 1995, significant progress has been made in identifying and managing young people at risk of sudden cardiac death. This progress has been driven by the tireless determination of bereaved families who have campaigned for change following tragedy in their own families. Their voices have inspired and worked alongside hundreds of MPs who have supported CRY, many also motivated by experiences of loss affecting their families, friends, or constituents. Continued support from MPs remains vital to ensure UK policies reflect best practice and that the needs of affected families and young people stay at the heart of decision-making.
CRY hosts parliamentary events and drop in sessions to help MPs understand the impact of young sudden cardiac death and learn more about the importance of heart screening and early detection.
MPs are invited to support our mission by joining the CRY All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) and backing calls for a National Strategy to prevent young sudden cardiac death.
Many MPs have already pledged their support to help drive policy change that saves young lives.
CRY regularly presents new research findings and screening data to parliamentarians so they can make informed decisions about guidelines, screening policies, and referral pathways for young people.
