We held our 29th Annual Clifton Rangers YFC tournament over the weekend (30th -31st August). Over 160 teams from all over West & North Yorkshire attended with boys& girls aged from U7 to U18s.
Feedback from everyone has been fantastic with over 3,000 people in attendance over the weekend.
Here are some pictures of the event which was held at Brighouse High School.
Alongside the Tournament was a charity raffle which raised £1,165 for Calderdale & Kirklees NHS Charity and Cardiac Risk in the Young. Both charities carry particular significance to the club. The NHS Charity significantly helped a Clifton Player manage his diabetes diagnosis and supported his family. Their hard work means that the child can continue to play football for Clifton Rangers.
Cardiac Risk in the Young is a charity that is synonymous with the tournament beginnings 29 years ago. Player Dominic O’Loughlin sadly died from Cardiac arrest whilst a Clifton Rangers player. The tournament was set up in his memory , to raise awareness and raise funds for the charity. Although links with the family have since lapsed the tournament in his memory has grown significantly and is now regarded as one of the best in the Yorkshire region.
Chairman Ian Lawrie paid tribute to all the coaches, Team Secretaries and Parents who made staging the tournament possible. Planning for the event started in February. The event was held in high spirits with some exceptional football played. Ian said “The tournament raffle helps us use the setting to raise money for CRY and another charity every year chosen by the club committee. We would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket to raise money for these fabulous charities”
