39 today … – Poem by Kathryn Badon

Another year goes by my son,
A birthday that you miss
No ability to look forward
No gentle hug or kiss.
So we sometimes create new thinking –
What if you were here?
How would you be sharing it?
With those you hold so dear?

Well here you are with your precious child,
He is now eleven.
I hope that you are looking down
From your special place in heaven.
Watching as he grows so big ..
Becoming a brave young man.
We cry, we laugh, we think of you,
Across this strange divide we now span!

The past, the present and future
Are interlinked for sure,
And even though your no longer here
Still we couldn’t love you more.
So we live, love, laugh in your memory,
Trying to get things right.
Comforted by your memory,
Your wonderful smile and your fight.
You are never, ever forgotten,
Your memory lives on,
And so until we meet again –
We have hope and will be strong. ❤️

Love your mum
