Alexander Jones

This memorial fund has been set up by the family to help CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death through supporting CRY’s screening programme.

The aim is to fund the screening of young people within the local community.

Alexander Edward Jones was born 27 September 1988 on the Isle of Anglesey on the beautiful, rugged north west coast of Wales.

In his teen years his keen interest in motor racing saw him race in TKM karts, winning the prestigious British ‘O’ plate in 2006 before competing in British Formula Ford 2009-2011 and subsequently moving to the USA to test and race in Indy Lights.

On his return to the UK in 2012 he took up competitive cycling, racing on road, cycle cross and time trials. Throughout these years during any spare time, Alex had loved to go down to the beach and sit on the rocks sketching the local landscape which he would later paint.

On 30 March 2019 at the age of 30 Alex suffered a cardiac arrest and died whilst out cycling in the Welsh hills that he loved.

He was in the process of setting up his website on which to display and sell his paintings. On his behalf we are continuing this work and offering limited edition high quality prints of his paintings – proceeds to CRY screening programmes.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Cardiac Risk in the Young receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of Cardiac Risk in the Young. Cardiac Risk in the Young will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of the Cardiac Risk in the Young.

No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor’s financial security.

Cardiac Risk in the Young will refrain from providing advice about the tax or other treatment of gifts and will encourage donors to seek guidance from their own professional advisers to assist them in the process of making their donation.

Cardiac Risk in the Young will accept donations of cash or publicly traded securities. Gifts of in-kind services will be accepted at the discretion of the Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Certain other gifts, real property, personal property, in-kind gifts, non-liquid securities, and contributions whose sources are not transparent or whose use is restricted in some manner, must be reviewed prior to acceptance due to the special obligations raised or liabilities they may pose for Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Cardiac Risk in the Young will provide acknowledgments to donors meeting tax requirements for property received by the charity as a gift. However, except for gifts of cash and publicly traded securities, no value shall be ascribed to any receipt or other form of substantiation of a gift received by Cardiac Risk in the Young.

The Cardiac Risk in the Young will respect the intent of the donor relating to gifts for restricted purposes and those relating to the desire to remain anonymous. With respect to anonymous gifts, Cardiac Risk in the Young will restrict information about the donor to only those staff members with a need to know.

Cardiac Risk in the Young will not compensate, whether through commissions, finders' fees, or other means, any third party for directing a gift or a donor to Cardiac Risk in the Young.
