Mannings Heath Hotel near Horsham played host on Friday 10th May, to a fundraising gig in aid of Cardiac Risk in the Young. ‘Murdoch’s Crazy Eyes’ provided the music for the evening for free in order to support the charity and a total of £2,000 was raised for CRY.

Rob Pope, who plays keyboards in the band, helped organise the event in memory of his brother Gary who died suddenly in his sleep in July 2011 from SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death).

“Last year we raised enough to purchase two ECG machines for CRY’s screening clinics. This year our aim was to raise enough for a much needed 24-hour Holter monitor. We shared the evening with local charity Horsham Community Responders. Their £2,000 raised will pay to equip and train a volunteer First Responder with a full kit including a defibrillator, oxygen cylinder, etc.”

As well as live music there was a raffle and an auction, with donated prizes including two pairs of weekend tickets to V Festival; a signed Henry Cooper Boxing Glove; a Flight Simulator Experience; a Sussex County Cricket Bat signed by the 2013 first team; and ‘Murdoch’s Crazy Eyes’ for a night of live music.

The evening was such a huge success raising £4,000 in total. We hope to continue fundraising for CRY in the future.
