Born 19 October 2006 – 01 January 2023.

This memorial fund has been set up by Jude’s family to support Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in their mission to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death. The fund will help CRY deliver free cardiac screenings for young people aged 14–35, starting in Westhill and expanding across Aberdeen and the Shire.
Jude was born on October 19, 2006 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a precious son to Eric and Ruth and a beloved brother to Lois and Maya. From the very beginning, Jude embodied thoughtfulness, kindness and love. He was our beautiful boy and his gentle, giant-like nature made him a joy to be around and Jude will forever be remembered by his loved ones.
Jude began his educational journey at Scouthall Playgroup in Westhill, then spent seven happy years at Elrick School before moving on to Westhill Academy. While he preferred the social side of school to the academic, he worked hard and successfully passed all his Nat5s, preparing for his Highers with quiet determination.
Jude was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He had such an easy-going nature and a deep love for his friends, treasuring the time he spent with them. His friendships brought him so much joy and laughter. His sudden loss has left a deep void in our lives and in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a kind, thoughtful and gentle soul who brought happiness to everyone around him.
He loved his trips to Lewis, where he embraced the freedom of island life and enjoyed visiting family. Jude was an avid gamer, spending countless hours on his PlayStation with friends online and a passionate footballer, training and playing with the 2006 Cove Youth Boys. He also enjoyed watching Rangers games with Maya and Eric, creating lasting memories.

On 01 January 2023, our world changed forever. Jude fell ill and suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. He passed away from a very rare heart condition, aged just 16. The loss is unimaginable and life changed in the blink of an eye and it will never be the same without him. Jude was, and will always be, incredibly special to us and to all who knew him. His memory lives on in our hearts, though they are broken.
In honour of Jude’s memory, we are working with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) to raise awareness and funds to provide free cardiac screenings for young people aged 14–35 in Westhill and across Aberdeen and the Shire.
Every week in the UK, at least 12 young people die suddenly from undiagnosed heart conditions. Many of these deaths are preventable. CRY’s screening programme helps detect potential cardiac risks early, offering families a chance to protect their loved ones before it’s too late.
Your support, whether through donations, fundraising, or spreading awareness will help us carry out these vital screenings and potentially save lives. Together, we can make a difference.
Be Thoughtful. Be Kind. Be Like Jude.
Thank you for helping us honour Jude’s memory in the most meaningful way possible.
