12 A Week Challenge in memory of Liv

A light has gone out, without so much as a flicker, but what remains is the precious memory of how brightly it shone and the warmth it gave

During Raising Awareness Week, a group of us participated in Cardiac Risk in the Young’s (CRY) 12 A Week Challenge.

We walked 12 miles in one day to honor the 12 lost lives each week to undiagnosed cardiac conditions in people between 14 and 35.

This cause is deeply personal to us as Liv – Our beloved Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Niece, cousin & dear friend, who was a healthy, young 19-year-old woman who was incredibly happy and thriving during her time at Wirral Grammar School for Girls, a place that nurtured her ambitions and talents.

She went on to study Veterinary Medicine at University of Nottingham (where Molly, Katie and Evie did their 12-mile walk), where she embraced independent and academic life, a true testament to her love for animals and her commitment to making the world a better place.

Tragically, her bright and heathy future was cut short age the young age of 19 by an unexpected cardiac arrest.

Through this challenge, we aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection, highlight CRY’s vital work in screenings, research, and family support, and honor the memory of those like Liv who left us too soon.

We are incredibly grateful and blown away for the donations and support we’ve received, raising over £9,400 (to date).

Thank you to all those who supported us and helped make a difference in my Liv’s memory.
