Last year I attended a parliamentary event that brought home a stark and deeply upsetting reality, one that affects families in communities like ours, right here in Hartlepool.

Every week in the UK, 12 young people aged 35 and under die suddenly from a previously undiagnosed heart condition.

These are sons and daughters, grandchildren, friends and teammates.

Young people who often appeared fit and healthy, with their whole lives ahead of them, taken without warning.
