When my daughter and I got a place in the 2026 Manchester Marathon we decided to raise money for CRY.
My nephew Sam collapsed and stopped breathing whilst swimming. He was saved by the quick action of his mum (my sister who is a nurse) and lifeguards. Following treatment and testing we discovered he has Long QT Syndrome. None of us had heard of this before. Testing identified other family members were carriers.
10 years on I am pleased to say Sam is thriving and although he carries a defibrillator just in case, nothing holds him back. He is a county cricketer and the world is at his feet.
Screenings so important and although our family have a positive story so many families don’t.
We hope our fund raising will help others.
