We support Cardiac Risk in the Young because of a devastating story close to all of our hearts.
We had a colleague at the Millstone in Mellor called Sophie, who everyone was very close to. One day, at just 17 years old, Sophie sadly passed away suddenly. It was an incredibly difficult time for all of us, especially for the young team members who were such close friends with her.
Mellor is a small village, and Sophie was known and loved by everybody. She truly was the heart and soul of the Millstone. Her birthday was on the 3rd of May, so we decided to hold a Mad Hatter Afternoon Tea Party in her memory, because Sophie really was our very own Mad Hatter — full of funny one-liners, mischief, and laughter.
The event went down a storm and was a wonderful way to celebrate Sophie’s life while raising awareness that sudden heart conditions can affect young people and young adults too.
The more money we can raise and support as a company, alongside the Millstone in Mellor, the more awareness we can help bring to this important cause.
Rest in peace, Sophie. You are truly missed every single day.
