Thank you very much for your kind interest in volunteering for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). We recognise the valuable contribution each individual makes, and without volunteers some of our services and events could not be offered. Our aim is to make sure you have a rewarding experience volunteering with CRY and have the opportunity to meet new challenges, develop your skills, gain a great sense of achievement, and contribute towards CRY’s aim of saving young lives
Without our volunteers, CRY would not be where it is today – they are truly at the heart of everything we do. Volunteering with CRY offers numerous benefits, including opportunities for self-development, taking on new challenges, building confidence, developing skills, and experiencing what it is like to be part of a charity. Volunteers also gain a strong sense of achievement and fulfilment by contributing to CRY’s aim of saving young lives.
You have complete flexibility in deciding how much time you would like to give, with opportunities ranging from regular involvement to one-off tasks that fit around your schedule. Volunteering can also enhance your CV, as employers value individuals who take initiative and make a difference. Additionally, it provides the chance to meet new people and connect with others who share common ground from all walks of life.
We are pleased to be supported by a diverse group of people and operate an equal opportunities policy. All we ask is that our volunteers have an understanding of the sensitive nature of CRY’s work, as many supporters and volunteers are bereaved or connected to bereaved families. You should be able to uphold and represent CRY’s name and reputation positively, remain flexible and proactive, and be comfortable volunteering outdoors, if needed. Strong initiative and creative thinking are important, as well as genuine enthusiasm for CRY and its events. Additionally, you should be able to work cooperatively as part of a team or independently, depending on the task.
You can get involved in a wide variety of CRY events, from major events such as the Great North Run and the London Marathon to our own CRY-organised activities, including the CRY Heart of London Bridges Walk and the CRY Heart of Durham Walk. Providing your help on-site is a great way to experience the energy and excitement of these fast-paced, busy events. There are plenty of different roles to take on, all offering a fun, enjoyable day out, and however much time you are able to give is very much appreciated. Your support is vital in helping make our events possible and successful.
We are unable to take volunteers at our screening events, however if you are a cardiac physiologist and would be interested in joining the CRY team please email your CV to ecg@c-r-y.org.uk
