This memorial fund has been set up by the family to help CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) raise awareness of young sudden cardiac death, support those affected, support CRY’s screening programme and fund research and pathology.
We lost our beautiful and talented brother Adil to Sudden Cardiac Death at the end of March 2019. It has been the most difficult time for us all as we have lost the heart and soul of our family, a loving, intelligent and kind brother and son who would go out of his way to help others. We are hoping that his death will not be in vain and through it we can raise awareness to help prevent other young people dying from Sudden Cardiac Death and the devastation it causes for the families left behind.
It is a condition that affects mainly young, fit and healthy people (high risk age is 14-35) where the heart just stops without any warning and it can be caused by various underlying cardiac conditions, which can only be picked up by specialist cardiac screening. If you have an underlying condition there can be certain triggers that can provoke Sudden Cardiac Death which include exercise/sports and stress. Therefore, it is important to be screened to know the triggers and how to be safe.
We have set up a charity fund with CRY in Adil’s name and would appreciate if you could donate whatever you can so that CRY can reach even more young people to screen, provide support to those affected and carry out important ongoing research.
From Adil’s family and friends
In loving memory of Adil Ahmed
With love from the Gunns.
