Alessandro died suddenly, in the early hours of July 31st, 2018 while on holiday in Italy. He appears to have collapsed having got up in the middle of the night. Alessandro was just 17 years old.
Alessandro’s autopsy has concluded that the probable cause of death is Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS). At no time did Alessandro display any symptoms of a heart condition.
Alessandro was brimming with potential and personality. His achievements saw him granted an honorary scholarship at Haileybury College and he was on course for a place at a leading university to study for a business degree. He was appointed Deputy Head of his House and College Prefect. He had a wide range of sporting and extra-curricular interests.
Alessandro was an extremely human being. He was intelligent, kind, compassionate, perceptive and funny. He was charismatic and irrepressible, with an easy charm and a gift for bringing out the best in people.
Alessandro may only have been 17 years old but he had already become more complete, more human and more loved than most people achieve after decades of life. He would want his death to help others by encouraging support for CRY to prevent tragedies like his.
This memorial fund has been set up by the family to help CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) raise awareness of young sudden cardiac death, support those affected, support CRY’s screening programme and fund research and pathology.
