There has been an absolutely amazing response to a fundraising marathon by a Kingussie shinty star in memory of his late great friend and teammate.

Eoin Baikie is running his 26.3 miles in Edinburgh to raise money for the Calum Mackintosh Memorial Fund in aid of the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

Baikie has set up a JustGiving page and there has been an overwhelming response.

He saet a target of £500 but at this time £5,725 has come in – an incredible 1144 per cent of the target.

Baikie told supporters: “My friend Calum Mackintosh and I were planning to run the Edinburgh Marathon together this year.

“We loved to challenge each other.

“Tragically, and without any warning, Calum died from a catastrophic cardiac event in November. I have been completely devasted by the loss of my friend.
